It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mikkel Sigismund Rydstrøm-Poulsen, who left us on his 41st birthday, May 25, 2026.

Born on May 25, 1985, Mikkel was a brilliant and complex individual with a formidable mind. He earned his Bachelor of Political Science and Economics from the University of Calgary and went on to complete his master’s degree of Economics at the University of Copenhagen. Highly educated and naturally insightful, Mikkel lived his life unapologetically and strictly on his own terms. He was known for his highly inappropriate sense of humour and his tall and undeniably fun presence.

Beneath his well-dressed exterior was a fiercely loyal man who deeply impacted those in his orbit. He leaves behind his brother, Rasmus, and his niece, Beatrix, who brought out his silly side. He also leaves behind many loyal and sweet friends who will miss him dearly. 

He is now reunited with his mother, who predeceased him on April 24, 2025.
