It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my father, William Bernard Tingle. Bernie passed away at AgeCare SkyView in Calgary, on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the age of 83.
Bernie was born on February 19, 1941, in Montreal, to mother Stella and father Bernard Tingle. He shared many stories of them and his older brother Milton.
I will miss our morning coffee at breakfast time where we talked about random things like politics, religion, the daily events, his truck driving days and how he loves to go and have drinks with his friends while fixing cars, motorcycles and trucks. I will miss our reminiscing about camping trips, road trips and the story of how he met my mother, Bernadette, who passed away in 2002.
My father's passion was being a truck driver, he drove trucks over 40 years. He shared many stories about driving down to the United States and right into Mexico and then right back again to Canada and to the Northwest Territories. His other passion was model railroading which we were planning to set up a table for two but we never got to.
As much as my dad acted tough, he always had a soft spot for animals, he never scolded me for bringing some random animal home like two hamsters, a duck, a cat and I never had to ask him about bringing home any of the dogs that we own because he loved them very much, especially his Rottweilers and his Dobermans.
Dad taught me so many life lessons and I’m truly going to miss him, he was my best friend and an amazing father, I’m honoured to be his daughter and thank you again for being my dad I love you very much, Mairaid.
