It is with sadness we announce the passing of Wilfred John Dyck. Willy, as he loved to be called passed peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021.
He was a proud member of the United Association Local 496 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union in Calgary for over 55 years. Willy loved to travel and his work took him from coast to coast in Canada and some parts of the U.S.A. as well. He was a journeyman, steamfitter, plumber, and gasfitter. Willy was a valued and experienced trade person with a conscience.
As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Willy was also very interested in scientific things and understanding how things worked. As a devout Christian, he always had his bible at his side and read it regularly. Willy loved to write notes and letters!!
We would like to thank the loving care and attention he received at the Grey Nuns Covenant Hospital in Edmonton and the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary. Also, Kathy Mayou, who for many years has helped so many United Association Members in her role as manager of the Super 8 Motel in Edmonton where Willy lived for many years.
He will be sadly missed by the members of Local 496 and the many friends he made along the way. Willy, see you on the next one!
