It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Dale Kenke, who left us peacefully on July 3, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 77.
We would like to acknowledge the generous organ donor who blessed Wayne with a kidney in 2001. That precious gift of life gave him 24 more years of adventure, cherished memories, and indescribable love—blessings that we will hold in our hearts forever.
Wayne lived a life rich with connection and purpose, guided by a deep passion for the outdoors and a natural gift for storytelling. Wayne devoted himself to his trade as a millwright at Fording Coal Ltd. in Elkford B.C. for 33 years.
Outside of his career, Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, passionately checking off his bucket list year by year. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, snowmobiling, berry picking, and cruising the open road on his motorcycle with close friends. Whether on the water or deep in the wilderness, he was always at home in nature, creating unforgettable memories along the way.
Wayne was predeceased by his loving parents, Eric and Tess. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Larke (Stadnyk), his children Tyler (Tanya) and Sandra (Ken), and his cherished granddaughters Madison (Hunter), Morgan, Sydney, and Ella, as well as his great-granddaughter Hazel.
He is also survived by his sisters Bev (Brian) and Cheryl (Les), and brothers-in-law Larry and Lorne Stadnyk, all of whom will fondly remember his vibrant spirit, easygoing nature, and magnetic storytelling.
Wayne’s legacy of laughter, adventure, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
