Vickey passed away on August 22, 2023, after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, with her husband Terry and her two best friends by her side.
Vickey was born in Calgary, Alberta, and was a Calgarian through and through. She loved her jeans, boots, cowboy hats, and the Stampede.
Vickey worked at the DHCC department when it was at Colonel Belcher and was still with them when they moved to RRDTC. She was loved by all who met her. Her co-workers and doctors she worked with loved her bright smile and positivity. They thought she was jubilant and had an infectious energy in everything she did.
Vickey and Terry made a move to Kelowna to enjoy the sun and beautiful BC Country. They had great neighbors and spent lots of fun times with family and friends.
Vickey worked with the BC interior health region while they lived there. She was an integral part of getting vaccines to all of interior BC. She was loved by everyone there and wowed them with her organizational skills, professionalism, and of course her positive, energetic self.
Eventually, Vickey and Terry moved back to Alberta, they moved into their dream home in Black Diamond in 2021. She loved her new home. One of her favorite things was to take their labs Sparky and Charlie, along with Terry on long walks to the Sheep River behind their home.
Vickey made her way back to working at RRDTC and became an integral part of the CAT team. Each morning she would talk to her angels and ask them to keep her safe on her travels to and from work. When Vickey got home from work each day, she would be so excited to tell Terry about her day at work and her lunchtime outings, shopping with her coworkers, Shawna and Lynda. She loved her job and the people she worked with.
Vickey was an avid traveler. She and Terry had many trips and created amazing memories in Mexico on the beach, Disneyland, Moose Jaw, and Las Vegas in the casinos to name a few. She loved country music, and they took in many concerts.
She was a great cook and was happiest when looking after her husband Terry and her friends and family. She was the caregiver. She loved having family BBQs and celebrating special occasions like Christmas. She had a knack for decorating any occasion.
Vickey touched so many people in so many ways with her big infectious smile whenever she greeted anyone. She always had a positive attitude toward anything.
Vickey will be missed dearly by all.
Terry would like to thank everyone who visited, called, and gave loving thoughts through this difficult time.
