It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Leigh Tracy on February 26th after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Leigh was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, whose warmth, wit, and generous spirit touched all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Erika Hodgson (Brent) and son, Ryan Maunier (Gabby) along with his adored grandchildren, Ellen, Rhys, and Sloane. He will be deeply missed by his sisters, Dene Patey and Patty Tracy (Dirk) and his brother, Shawn Tracy and sister-in-law Marlene Tracy. Leigh was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Among those who held a special place in his life was his “last” wife, Floy Tracy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gil and Rowena Tracy, and his brothers, Gary Tracy and Donnie Tracy.
Leigh’s presence brought laughter and warmth to every room, and his legacy of kindness and love will live on in those who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his unwavering support of his family and friends, his sharp sense of humor, and his deep appreciation for the simple joys in life.
A Celebration of Leigh’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Deer Run Community Center (2223 146 Avenue S.E., Calgary). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous, which supported Leigh through 48 years of sobriety. A dedicated advocate, he not only embraced AA’s principles but also helped expand its reach, attending meetings worldwide and establishing new ones in communities without support.
Rest easy, Leigh - we’ll take it from here.
