Theresa Bernadette Hay Gilbert (nee Barrone) 75, born at Big River Saskatchewan on December 28th, 1948, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her home in Calgary, Alberta.

Theresa was predeceased by her brothers Kreigh and Floyd, her sister Amanda, niece Maren and her parents Bernadette and Walter Floyd Barrone. She was also predeceased by the father of her children, Douglas Hay, and her husband, Harry Gilbert.

Mom leaves behind her two daughters Melissa and Tracy, grandsons Joshua, Connor & Joseph, Mitchell, Reid, granddaughter Ava, and great-grandchildren Haylea and Parker. Theresa is also survived by her sisters Myrt (Edward) and Tammy and her brothers Mark (Peggy), Curtis (Maryanne) and Guy.

She loved her large family and leaves behind numerous extended relatives.

Theresa was gregarious, loved to chat and she treasured her many friends. Mom was resilient and bravely faced many challenges in her life. She did so through humor and her faith; she kept many in her prayers and always was up for a good laugh. The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Cedars Villa Nursing Home in Calgary for the support and care they have provided over the last 9 years; we are grateful Mom was safe, part of a community and loved.

A private interment service will be held for immediate family members at a later date.
