It is with great sadness that the Buis family announces that our loving wife, mother, and sister-in-law, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at the age of 65.
Teressa leaves behind her devoted husband of 38 years, son Shawn (Jaesel) Buis, daughter Leeza, and sister-in-law Margaret (Lisa Trudel).
Teressa was predeceased by her first son Derek who was still born in 1989, and her mother Leah Cruikshank who passed in 2012.
Born in Kingston, Ontario, Teressa loved to travel and visited various countries before falling in love with Ron while living in Toronto. Forever a true romantic, they married on Valentines day in 1987. Teressa and Ron settled in Mississauga, Ontario, where they enjoyed life with their children. Teressa worked for over 40 years as a cashier at Loblaws grocery store and dedicated her life to caring for her family. She loved Harley Davidsons, riding in full leathers on the back of Ron's trike, collecting fun and unusual ornaments and trinkets, hosting family events, dressing in Disney costumes, taking cruises, and decorating her home for every holiday including Christmas, Easter, and Halloween.
In July of 2018, Teressa welcomed Jaesel into the family and was the proud mother of the groom when Shawn married.
In March of 2021, Ron and Teressa moved to Airdrie, Alberta, to be near to Shawn and Jaesel who had moved there a year earlier. Teressa quickly found work at her local No Frills and was praised by managers, colleagues, and customers for upbeat attitude and friendliness.
She was always a doting mother to Leeza and after moving to Airdrie found "Loving Hands Partners in Care" which continues to provide exceptional support to Leeza and other adults with autsim and complex needs.
Teressa is gone but never forgotten. The world is smaller now without her, however, the Buis family is honoured to have been a part of her life.
Donations to Autism Canada in Teressa's name is appreciated.
