Susan May Boese (nee Crossland) was born on August 21, 1969. In 1985, she married the love of her life, Ronald. Later that year, they welcomed their first daughter Meleena, into the world. In 1988, they welcomed their second daughter Kari, into their now complete family. They raised their daughters to become strong, compassionate women, just like Susan.
In 1988, she and Ron dedicated their lives to serving Jehovah God. Her love for God and neighbour motivated her to tell others about her hope for the beautiful future that He promises mankind. She never tired of learning more about Him through reading the Bible and discussing at length the history written there and what it means for us all.
Susan had a love for animals that started very young, and only grew stronger with every passing year. If there was a horse nearby, that’s where you would find her. If it was sunny outside she was in her yard, usually barefoot. She would be gardening, watching over her adopted goldfish, playing with the dogs in their pool, and feeding the birds and squirrels by hand. She loved caring for them all. When a bird would stop by one of her many feeders, she knew it was Jehovah reminding her that she was loved and “worth more than many sparrows”. (Matthew 10:31) She taught her daughters how to love and care for all animals, just as she did.
Susan’s love for people was even stronger though. Despite battling many illnesses her entire adult life, she was a caretaker. She would open her heart up to anyone that needed a friend. No one near her ever went without a meal, a snack, a coffee, a candy, or anything she had on hand. And if none of those were quite right, she would take the time to learn what you loved—and have ten of them ready for you the next time you saw her. If you needed a hug, she gave the best ones. If you needed a place to stay, the Boese home was your home now too. It was: Here’s a key, this is your room, there’s the fridge, and the cupboards are filled with all your favourites. She and Ron made sure everyone they knew had a safe place, a full belly, and all the hugs and laughter they could ever want.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Ronald, her daughters Meleena and Kari, her mother Linda, her older brother Darin, and her younger Sister Lea. She had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that will dearly miss her. Her ever growing family of Jehovah’s Witnesses took up a large part of her heart and always made her so happy.
Her faith was never out of her mind and is one that she shared openly with anyone she could. Her hope for the future is one that her family holds dearly, and can be read about here: https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/what-is-the-resurrection/
