Sukhbir Kaur Bakshi

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Sukhbir Kaur Bakshi on February 4, 2026, at the age of 87, in Calgary, Canada.

Born on October 30, 1938, Sukhbir – affectionately known as “Dugi” – spent her early years in Kenya before moving to London, England, where she pursued her calling as a nurse.

Sukhbir devoted more than forty years to caring for others as a neonatal nurse, serving with unwavering compassion, strength, and dedication. Throughout her life, she was a survivor, a fighter, a traveler, a political activist, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She loved unconditionally, listened without judgment, and never hesitated to help those in need. Above all, her family meant the world to her.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, children, and grandchildren, with whom she shared cherished everyday moments and created life-defining memories.
