Simo Kuraica was born on September 1, 1932, in Trebinje, Bosnia, and Herzegovina where he was the youngest of four children. He was named after his father who passed away before he was born. When he was just a couple of months old, his mother Zorka took him and the other children to Sarajevo, where he lived until the war broke out in 1992. He was the last of four siblings amongst us and now his eyes are closed forever.
He finished the Law University of Sarajevo and throughout his career held many respectable positions, amongst some of them being the Judge of Federal Court, President of the Regional Court, and a Republic Public Defense lawyer. He was modest and respectable down to earth man, who always cared deeply for his family and friends. In 1997 Simo arrived with his wife Davorka to Canada to be with his only son Dejan, daughter-in-law Ljubica and grandson Filip.
His lifelong companion Davorka left him seven years ago and now he is on his way to a better place hopefully to meet with her again. There are not enough words to describe how big of a man he was. He was simple, full of love for his family, always there for people that he loved, and always there when he was needed regardless if you needed help, warm words, wise advice, or a shoulder to cry on.
It was a pleasure and an honor calling you Dad, and thanks to you I am a better man today. You will never be forgotten and there is always a special place in our hearts reserved for you. Rest in peace and hope that the angels look after you.
Love and prayers from your family.
