On Thursday, July 15, 2021 Shirley Liski (nee Boys), our beloved Mom, Grams and Gigi transitioned to Heaven peacefully in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 85 years.
Shirley Jane Liski was born August 14, 1935 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Clifford and Emma Boys (nee Inman). Shirley was raised in and around Moose Jaw area with her parents; her two older brothers, Roger and Bryan; and her younger sister, Lois. She attended high school at Moose Jaw Tech until she left at Grade 10 to accept a job at a lawyer's office where she stayed for five years.
Shirley met Lewis Liski in 1953 at the age of 18 on a blind date. They dated for 1 1/2 years before becoming engaged and then married on June 9, 1956 at the age of 20. They lived in Moose Jaw, Estevan, Squaw Rapids, Carrot River and Regina, where they made their final home raising their 5 children, Darrell, Wanda, Janice, Boyd and Bradley.
Shirley and Lou lived an active life with the five kids and many friends and family. In 1985, Shirley lost her beloved husband Lou and was widowed at the age of 49.
Shirley had many jobs/careers from working at Block Bros. Realty, Social Services for 22 years in Regina before retiring and moving to Medicine Hat and becoming a Screening Officer at the airport. She finally retired for good at the age of 75.
Shirley loved traveling to Las Vegas and wherever her children and grandchildren were. She had a special relationship with each one of them. She was very excited when she become a great Grandma - 'Gigi'. Her smile would light up the room and people would always comment on her bling and how put together she looked. Shirley was strong in faith and was looking forward to being reunited with Lou and all those that went before her.
Shirley is deeply loved and greatly missed by her 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Darrell (Regena) from Kelowna and family, Lewis (Jenny), Anson, Alexis (Jovi) and daughter Addison Wanda (Rogan) of Calgary & family Taylor and MacKenzie, Janice (Dan) of Calgary & family, Keegan and his daughter Rylan, Spencer (Katie) and Campbell, Boyd (Wendy) of Winnipeg & family, Carling, Chanel, Maclean and Weston, Brad (Carleen) from Port Moody, BC & family, Mckenna and Morgan. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Lois Boys of Medicine Hat; her sister-in-law Violet McLean of Humboldt; brother-in-law Don Liski of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lou in 1985; her parents Clifford and Emma Boys; her brothers Roger and Bryan Boys; and in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wildwood Community Hall (4411 Spruce Drive SW, Calgary, Alberta) on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 11:00am.
