With great sadness, we announce the passing of Sheri Jacobson on March 16, 2025.
Sheri was born on May 29, 1968, in The Pas, Manitoba. She spent her childhood in Cormorant, Manitoba, where she was raised alongside her siblings.
She moved to The Pas as a young adult. In 1985 she gave birth to her beloved daughter Crystal.
Sheri had an adventurous spirit and a passion for travel. She moved across the country and around the world, living in Germany for 6 years, returning to Manitoba and settling in Alberta in 2014.
On December 31, 2013, Sheri met Steve Learn through Plenty of Fish, and their connection quickly grew into a loving partnership. Sheri moved to Calgary, where her and Steve built a life together, sharing a love for the outdoors and traveling, particularly to the mountains—her favorite place to explore. She was always in awe of nature, especially when she had the chance to see wild bears in the wilderness.
Going home to Simon Nabess Wayside Park campground each year to be with family was an adventure she always cherished. She treasured those visits especially spending time with her sister’s family, with whom she shared a deep and lasting bond.
Though she was not initially a passionate sports fan, Sheri grew to enjoy hockey and, eventually, CFL football—once she fully understood the game. She would watch from home while Steve attended games at McMahon Stadium. One particular game, however, she decided to experience in person, where she had the chance to meet Jon Cornish from the Calgary Stampeders. From that moment on, she became an enthusiastic fan and looked forward to football season each year.
For 11 years, Sheri and Steve worked together at Exela Technologies, where she became a beloved colleague and friend to many at Brookfield Place. She truly enjoyed her work and the friendships she formed there, and she will be deeply missed by her colleagues.
Sheri had a heart full of love, and she made sure everyone in her life knew just how much they meant to her. Her smile, hugs, love and sense of humor will be forever remembered.
She is survived by her daughter, Crystal; her cherished grandchildren Alexis, Dominique and Tyrone; her devoted partner, Steve; her siblings, Patrick (Kelly), Darryl (Lisa), Doris (Jesse), Raymond (Anna), her nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She also leaves behind countless cousins—too many to name, but all fondly remembered and close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Violet and Raymond Jacobson.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 28th. Please meet at Simon Nabess Wayside Park at 12:30 PM. From there, we will travel in procession to Cormorant Cemetery, where a brief graveside service will begin at 1:00 PM. After the service, all are welcome to return to the park for food, visiting, and sharing memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Sheri’s adventurous spirit, unwavering love, and kind heart touched countless lives. She will be missed beyond measure and never forgotten.
