Ronald Wayne Sharp Obituary

Ronald Wayne Sharp, 83, of Calgary Alberta, passed away on October 10, 2025, after a brave battle with kidney disease.

Ron was born on September 25, 1942, to Norman and Mary Sharp in Vancouver BC. In 1958 at 16, Ron joined the military where he completed his education with an apprenticeship and began a long successful career. Ron retired with a dignified time of service from the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1983 and began a long career with the City of Calgary. Ron continued his dedication to the military and went on to join the militia finally retiring as the Commanding Officer of the 33 Field Engineers Squadron which he helped re-establish. He finally retired from the City of Calgary in 2009.

Ron was also known for his generosity which was reflected in his love of cooking. He would be very enthusiastic with trying new recipes as well as preparing some old standard and always make more than enough to share. Ron was even known for bringing large pots of soup to work which the staff would eagerly share.

In 1964, Ron met Judy his first spouse. Ron and Judy parted in 1977.

In 1978 Ron met Mary Anne Boudreau in Yellowknife. They married in 1979, and Ron also embraced Michael as his stepson. Mary Anne Sharp passed in July 2000.

In August 2005 he married Carrie, and they remained married until Ron’s passing.

In 2006, Ron retired and spent his time in his garden, reading, working with military historical groups and retired military engineer’s associations. Of course, he also did a lot of cooking and would seek out and find new recipes.
