It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald James Anderson, affectionately known as "Andy," on June 19, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 80.
He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 15, 1944, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Ron was the son of Julian and Viola (Binda) Anderson. He attended school in Moose Jaw before entering the workforce, holding positions in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, and North Battleford. In 1967, he married Darlene Ann Noble, and together they returned to Moose Jaw, where Ron briefly studied at STI. His education led to work opportunities in Montreal and Ottawa before the family settled in Regina. Ron was a proud father to his daughters, Rhonda Dawn (Todd O’Leary) and Rochelle Ann Pokeda, and grandfather to Rochelle’s two sons, Lucas (14) and Liam (11) and his best friend of 73 years, Keith Parker.
Andy had a passion for the arts and pursued his dreams with unwavering determination. After moving to Calgary in the mid-1970s, he later studied acting and embarked on a fulfilling acting career that spanned several decades, lasting until 2024. He was nominated for a prestigious acting award by the Saskatchewan Independent Film Awards for Best Acting for the film Dreamers. A man of many talents and interests, Andy was an avid sailor, golfer, lawn bowler, pianist, and card player. He was a child prodigy on the piano, playing beautifully by ear, and had a deep love for music throughout his life. Those who knew Andy remember him as passionate, creative, and deeply spirited. He lived life on his own terms, never letting go of his dreams, and inspiring those around him to do the same. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
