Ronald Jack Glassford

Ronald Jack Glassford, a cherished son, husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the age of 59. Born on May 30, 1965, in Chatham, Ontario, Ronald was a beacon of kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his family. Ronald, known to many as "Ron," spent his years in Calgary, where he developed a love of music, gardening and a deep appreciation for his circle of friends.

In May of 2024, Ron married the love of his life, Shawn Gordon Richards, after only a short 26 years together. Those years were filled with mutual respect, adventure, and enduring love. Together, they travelled, they entertained, they loved hard and conquered life on their terms. 

Ronald is survived by his beloved husband, Shawn; his mother, Louise; sister Kim (and her husband, Herb); brother Robert (and his wife, Holly); and brother John (and his wife Erica) He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Ron's life will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Southern Alberta Pioneers Memorial Building (3625 4 St SW), followed by a reception at John and Erica’s home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Agape Salvation Army Hospice at http://agapehospice.ca/, or to Prostate Cancer Awareness Canada at https://prostatecanada.ca/, causes that Ron surely would have passionately supported.

Ronald Jack Glassford's kindness, wisdom, and love left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
