It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Roberta "Bobbie" Ann Ramey at the age of 94 years. Mom died peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.
Mom was born in Cypress River, Manitoba to Helen and Lloyd Hainstock. Mom became a second Mom to her younger sister Heather, who is 13 years her junior. At 20 years old, she married Lawrence "Randy" Ramey on June 25, 1949, in Winnipeg, MB. Together they had 4 children, Debbie, Scott, Brad, and Kym.
During their marriage, they moved countless times over the years to wherever Randy's skills were required in the electrical field. This included 3 major B.C. hydroelectric dam projects in Hudson's Hope, Mica Creek, and Revelstoke. These were demanding and disruptive years, but Mom being the strong and capable woman she was made it happen. With 4 kids and various pets in tow! Mom loved all her homes and took special pride in a spotless and well decorated one. She worked so hard her whole life to make our many homes home.
Mom and Dad retired in Victoria, B.C. in 1991 until Dad passed away in 1997. Mom made one last out of province move to Calgary, AB that same year. In retirement and widowhood, she loved line dancing, bowling, curling, and outings with friends and family. She also volunteered as an English teacher to new Canadian seniors.
Bobbie is survived by her children: Debbie (Mike) Cole of Campbell River, B.C., Scott (Charlene) Ramey of Calgary, AB, and Kym (Blair) Ramey of Calgary, AB; her 5 grandchildren: Adam, Dana, Bridgette, Page, and Madison; and 5 great-grandchildren: Caiden, Kyla, Oliver, John, and Jack; her sister Heather Hainstock, her niece Shannon and nephew Sean and families, all of Vancouver Island.
Bobbie was recently predeceased by her son, Brad.
A private family service for Bobbie will take place at a later date.
