Robert "Bob" Donald Gelling

It is with a heavy heart and tremendous love that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Donald Gelling on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, after his brave fight with Cancer. Bob passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family who cared for him deeply. 

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Bob started his education in France, returned to Canada to spend his formative years in Ontario, eventually graduating at the University of Western Ontario. However, for the last 22 years he called Calgary his home.

Bob was a sweet, funny, and compassionate man who was a pet lover and an intrepid runner, who enjoyed jogging through Fishcreek scouting for Sasquatch. He loved going to the gym with his son, meditating with his granddaughter, and adventuring the outdoors.  He enjoyed travelling and swimming in the ocean, but most of all Bobs greatest love was his family.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dodie; his two children, Robert, and Alison (Stuart); granddaughter Cameron; sister Terrilyn; brother-in-law Kerry (Donna, predeceased); niece Jacqueline; nephew Drew (Julia); sister-in-law Sarah (Leonard); father-in-law Ian; and numerous other aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Gladys Gelling; and mother-in-law Donna.

A Celebration of Life for Bob will be relayed in the future.
