Robert Bosiak Obituary

My Dad,  Bob Bosiak, who is the absolute best man I have ever known passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the age of 82. He suffered for several years with Alzheimer’s - Lewy Body Dementia and it slowly and painfully took him away from us. He was born in Calgary on December 12,1940 and lived in Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto.

Bob had a dynamic personality, zest for life and positive energy. He was very charismatic, friendly, genuine, fun, kind, and a very loyal and loving friend.

He always took care of everyone before himself. Bob was an amazing father to Kelly and Dean, and loving husband to Cathy for 56 years.  He was an incredible Grampy to his grandkids, Jaiden, Jorel, and Kaia; and his fur grand babies, Bailey and Mocha.

Bob loved hard and was always there for his family and friends. He had long lasting true friendships that he cherished. Bob was a very talented singer and amazing guitar player and was always happy to entertain everyone and take song requests. So many joyful memories of singing songs, especially Christmas carols, and Old Macdonald Had a Farm.

He enjoyed being a proud Grampy more than anything and loved his grandkids, and grand dogs deeply.  There were so many joyful times with Kelly and the kids going to the park, the zoo, rides in Grampy’s beloved brown Chevy van for ice cream,  tacos and burgers, having popsicles and Chinese food at Grammy and Grampy’s house.

Bob had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome. He respected and valued people and made them feel at ease.

He loved to be out in the wilderness, camping, taking the dogs for walks, and just being in nature. He adored travelling to see his friends in Kimberly  and visited his brother Don and his wife Heather both in Vancouver and Calgary.

Bob loved jam sessions with his Dad, Nick, and brother Don, and he cherished the love and care from his Mom Thelma.

He loved live music and attended many epic concerts with Dean including Paul McCartney. Bob loved to dance and party. He loved to socialize and go to the Peanuts Pub every Saturday with his best friend, my Mom, and they made instant friends wherever they went.  He would draw you in with his genuine and warm personality.

Bob loved animals with all his heart, and they always took to him. He was an entrepreneur, business owner and always had a strong work ethic. Bob was a leader. He had many fond memories and was proud of working with Dominion Stores in Toronto as the General Manager.

He told the best stories about his travels to Europe with his buddy Big Bob, seeing the Beatles, meeting Cathy for the first time in Toronto, childhood memories and tours of where he lived and grew up.

Bob loved playing crib with his brother-in-law John, and visits to PEI with in-laws Jean and Ray; sister-in-law Margie; Cheryl and John; and nephews and nieces, Trudy, Paul, Mark, Nathan, and Jarrod. He loved singing and harmonizing with his mom, Jo, while she played piano and they always played crib games together. Bob loved hosting big family poker games and very competitive crib matches. He loved family gatherings with his brother Dean, Linda, and his nephew Adam.

He always looked handsome with his beautiful grey beard and was happy to play Santa Claus for his grandchildren.

Bob loved playing guitar and singing with buddy Herbie and partying at Julyfest with his close friends Barb, Jerry, Ron, Cathy, Walter, Marg, and Pat. He loved visiting childhood buddies Ben, Betty, Fred, and Diane in Vancouver.

He always kept in touch with his bandmates from The Sonars Pete, Steve, and Eddie in Toronto. My parents always hosted the best parties in their red basement on Carrera Lane in Toronto with their friends, Evie, Jack, Barb, Peter, Pat, and Harold.

Bob loved visits at his Uncle Lawrence and Aunt Mick’s farm in Edmonton and hanging out with his cousins Peter, Janie, and James. He loved chats with his long-time neighbours and friends, Donna and Barry, Tim and Marilyn, Geri and Marilyn.

He always had Werther’s butterscotch candies in his pocket that he would share with his granddaughter Kaia when he took her to gymnastics class and kindergarten. He loved taking his grandsons Jaiden and Jorel on adventures like jumping over the big log at the leisure centre and going for fries and pizza after school.

Bob loved Sunday family dinners, was a master at BBQ, and always slipped me (Kelly ) a $20 bill for my pocket.

He loved being with family and friends most in life and it brought him great joy. His most important and best accomplishment was loving Cathy, his wife and best friend for 56 years. She was his everything.

Bob can be remembered as a great man who touched a lot of people in his life with his kindness, joy, and his intense love most of all. He will be dearly missed and always loved. ❤️
