Passed away peacefully at AgeCare Walden Heights, Calgary, Alberta, in his 88th year.
Rich was born in Peterborough, Ontario, and graduated with first class honours in geological sciences from Queen’s University at Kingston in 1962. Rich moved to Calgary after graduation in the 1960s to work as a geologist in the oil and gas industry, working for several public and private companies, as well as, starting his own company, over his 40+ year career. Although Calgary became his home, with many good friends made over the years, Rich loved to return to Peterborough often in the summer to spend time with his family, especially at his brother Ron’s cottage in the Kawartha Lakes region.
Rich was an avid sportsman in his youth, excelling at all sports. Rich was a keen reader of history, especially Canadian military history. In retirement, Rich drew on his interest in history and his sharp attention to detail in researching family history, leaving behind a marvelous genealogical record for posterity. Rich will be remembered for his sense of humour and his love of family.
