Rhonda Arnelle Burke Melnick

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Rhonda Arnelle Burke Melnick. Rhonda passed on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, after a long battle with illness, at the age of 48 years old.

She was born on October 6, 1975, in Glace Bay Nova Scotia. Rhonda devoted her life to being a mother. After obtaining a diploma in Nursing and working as a long-term care nurse for many years, Rhonda decided it was time to stay home with her kids and spend the years enjoying watching their sporting events, supporting their hobbies and watching them grow into adults.

Rhonda was an avid Patriots fan, every Sunday, you could find her wearing all of her Patriots clothes and screaming at the TV. She loved the time she got to spend with her kids watching the games and how it brought our whole family together on Super Bowl Sundays.

Rhonda enjoyed time with family over anything else, she always encouraged her kids to bring their friends over for birthdays, holidays and sporting events so we could take it all in together. Rhonda was no stranger to a full house and embraced every second of it. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

Rhonda is predeceased by her late father Keith Burke and her mother and father-in-law John Melnick Sr. and Sandra Melnick. She is survived by her loving and supportive husband John Melnick, her mother Gail Burke, her children Jordyn, Keith, Kasandra, and Murphy (fur baby) Melnick, her grandchildren Parker, Charlotte and Riker Burke.

We will be holding a Celebration of Life on Friday, August 9, 2024, between 2-6pm. It will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion 9202 Horton Road SW, Calgary. Please note that hats are not allowed to be worn within the legion.

In lieu of flowers we are collecting donations for Unit 66 at South Health Campus Hospital as that was Rhonda's primary unit during her stay. The family wishes to thank the staff for taking such incredible care of Rhonda while she was there. She felt genuinely at home while being there and we would like to give back to them.
