Petar Bracic Obituary

Petar Bracic lived life on his own terms, embracing his passions and interests with creativity and boundless enthusiasm. From a young age, Petar had an adventurous spirit. He spent his childhood exploring Fish Creek Park with his friends, and as an adult, he returned there often for quiet reflection and to ride his bike the long way home.

Petar had a deep connection with his family and friends. He was a devoted son, a supportive brother, and a fun-loving uncle. Whether it was helping his family with home projects, sharing toys and books with his nephew Anthony, or encouraging his brother Jan to take a day to explore Toronto together, Petar was always there with a big heart and boundless energy.

As a realtor, Petar took pride in supporting his colleagues and clients, insisting on doing things right, even if it took longer. His attention to detail was reflected in every task he took on, whether helping with landscaping, perfecting a school art project, or carefully arranging his souvenirs and memorabilia at home.

Petar’s love for music was a defining part of his life. He played guitar as a teenager and, as an adult, collected musical instruments and an extensive array of recordings spanning various genres.

Petar’s energy and enthusiasm extended to his friendships and conversations, where he was known for his intense thoughts, ideas, and opinions. His loyalty and generosity knew no bounds, and his laughter will be deeply missed.

Petar had a sentimental side, showing up with greeting cards for everyone in the family to sign and give each other on special occasions. He loved Chinese food, Tim Hortons steeped tea, and his Chevy Vega, which he never parted with.

Petar is survived by his parents, Jana and Joseph; his sister Blanka and her partner Risto Treksler; his brother Jan and wife Odarbys; his nephew Anthony; and a circle of devoted friends: Matt McMillan, Jakub Oleskiewicz with wife Zuzana, Mike Miller with wife Shannon, Todd Simon, Richard Simoneau, Jason Chongpison, Philippe Leroux, Shane Smith, John Bracone, Frank DiGiacomo, and Todd Gauld. Petar’s soul twin was Yvonne Chupik.

Petar approached life with energy, devotion, and a deep sense of purpose. He gave his all to the people and passions that mattered most to him. Though he left us suddenly due to a tragic workplace accident, his memory and spirit will remain with us always.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bonaventure Church (1600 Acadia Dr SE, Calgary) on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. All are welcome.

In honour of Petar’s memory, we ask that you reach out to someone you haven’t spoken with in a while. Encourage them vigorously. Debate philosophical questions heatedly. Visit Fish Creek Park. Make jokes. Let your inner child shine out.
