With love, the family of Perry David Williams, fondly known as Dave, announces his passing on October 28, 2025, at the age of 95.
Born April 7, 1930 in Gause, Texas, Dave’s life was one of early hardship, perseverance, adventure and dedication to his country, work and, most importantly, family and friends.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Dave served with distinction during the Korean War (1952-1954). In 1952, between basic training (California) and jump school (Georgia), he married Carol Sprague of Canadian, Texas. Together they built a life first in Texas, then in Alberta, where they raised their children - Dave, Shawn, Randy and April - and made lifelong friendships. Dave and Carol shared 58 years together before her passing in 2010.
In 1947, Dave’s career began in the survey industry, with Seismograph Service Corp. of Tulsa, OK. After Dave’s discharge from the military, he utilized the GI Bill to pursue a degree in engineering at West Texas State College. His career grew into a remarkable journey through the oil and gas industry that not only spanned decades but countries, when T. Boone Pickens asked him to move to Alberta in 1959. Dave held executive positions with multiple companies including Westburne Petroleum & Minerals; Enerplus Energy Services, Quixote Petroleum and International Colin. Dave was also a part owner in Elkana Ranch of Bragg Creek, AB where he rode horses with his family.
In Dave’s later years, he found immense joy in not only living with but traveling and exploring the world with his dear friends Nancy Knowlton, Dave Martin and their countless family members. The experiences, laughter and friendship were never in short supply. Dave always said that you are only ever as old as you let yourself believe, and even in his early 90’s, he was able to travel around the United States, Europe and Mexico and through the Northwest Passage in the Arctic.
Dave is survived by his children, Dave (Jean) of Oklahoma City, OK; April (Will Carter) of Pilot Point, TX; Randy of Denver, CO; his six beloved grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren and another soon to arrive. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol, and their daughter Shawn Fullerton (Charlie Fullerton) as well as his parents, David Wesley and Hazel Williams, and both brothers, AJ and Hershel Williams.
Forever remembered, deeply missed and always admired. Dave leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom and laughter.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date
