Patrick Joseph (Joe) McGinn Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Patrick Joseph (Joe) McGinn of Calgary on September 27, 2024, at the age of 90.

Joe was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, where he attended Central Collegiate High School and played hockey for the Moose Jaw Canucks.

Joe married Arlene (née Raycroft) of Saskatoon, and they had four children. In 1967, Joe moved his family to Calgary, transitioning from a career at the Imperial Oil refinery to pursue his passion for real estate. He worked with P.J. Toole & Cote and Toole Peet before founding his own firm, McGinn Properties.

Joe will be lovingly remembered by his family, Fred McGinn (Linda; granddaughters Megan (Josh) and Melissa (James) and great-granddaughters Poppy and Scottie) West Vancouver; Doug McGinn, White Rock; Marcelyn McGinn Reynolds (Paul; grandchildren Josh and Jorja) London, England; grandsons Mitchell May, Calgary, Joey May, Fredericton, and Eddie May, Fredericton; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen (née Doyle) and Frederick, his five siblings, Marguerite Duchesne, Harold (Jim), Kathleen Holland, Dorothy Murphy, Jean Currie, and by his cherished daughter Margaret Ann (Meg) McGinn May.

Joe will be lovingly laid to rest, alongside his daughter Meg, at Sacred Heart Columbarium in Calgary. As per his wishes, no service will be held.
