Ottavio Priolo Obituary

Ottavio Priolo, cherished husband of Angela Priolo (nee Corradetti), passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family after fighting a courageous year and a half long battle with cancer at the age of 68 years, on Wednesday June 10, 2020.

Born in Palizzi, Reggio Calabria, Italy in 1951, he immigrated to Canada with his family at the early age of 3.  Ottavio spent his life in Calgary and Chestermere. He married Angela, his wife of 43 years, in 1976.  Ottavio is survived by his wife and two children, Amanda (Alissa) Priolo, and Matthew (Tracy) Priolo, as well as his three treasured grandsons, Lino (2 years) and Cael and Easton, (aged 9 and 6).

In addition to his immediate family, Ottavio is also survived by his four siblings, Antonio (Elvira) Priolo, Lila (Tony) Daprocida, Salvatore (Linda) Priolo, and Cathy Daprocida; sisters-in-law Anna Priolo and Lita (Fred) Sweere; brothers-in-law Rico Corradetti and Bruno (Melissa) Corradetti; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.  He was predeceased by his father Stefano Priolo and mother Maria Carmela Priolo, brother’s Carmelo Priolo and Joe Priolo, sister Luigia Priolo, and in-laws Pasquale and Yola Corradetti.

Ottavio was the definition of a fun-loving man who loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He was the first to the party and the last to leave, and he was always eager to share a bottle of wine, have a good meal, and of course have lots of laughs. He had a keen sense of adventure and loved to travel and go on road trips; constantly taking the scenic route to make sure he did not miss exploring any of the sights. Ottavio will always be remembered for his quick sense of humor, never missing an opportunity to make a pun or a joke. Ottavio was an extremely hard-working man. He co-owned and operated Bow Valley Electrical Services for many years then moved on to form Primo Management, a successful home building company. Above all else, Ottavio’s family was his greatest joy and accomplishment. He worked tirelessly to provide the best life for his family and treasured all their time together. In his later years, his grandsons were the joy of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him and to be part of his life

We will have a celebration of life at a date and location to be determined at a later time. Updates to follow.
