Norma Layug (Mendez) Zajicek was reunited with the love of her life on April 16, 2022. Her husband of 48 years, Frank Zajicek, passed away on July 14, 2021.
She was born on April 15, 1942, in Malabon Rizal, Philippines. She was the second born of three children of Basilio and Loretta (Layug) Mendez.
Norma lived a long, happy life. Her family was everything to her, most importantly her grandchildren. Wherever the kids were, you could be assured Norma was close by. She had a long career, first as a legal secretary, then moved on to an executive secretary role in the oil and gas field. She loved working. She loved to be around people, a true social butterfly. Norma was always cooking. You never left the farm hungry, even though she despised cooking! It was all about taking care of her people, always. She had so much love in her heart and spread that love around to every person she knew. Whether you were family or not, she treated you like family and truly thought of you that way. She was everyone’s Babi.
Norma is survived by her only child JD (Tammy) Zajicek; two grandchildren, Athena, and Samantha; two sisters, Mey Alvia and Chel (Kerin) O’Brien; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins, and friends, whom she all loved dearly.
