Nancy Marie-Edith (Delainey) Van Eerden

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Marie-Edith Van Eerden (nee Delainey) on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at the age of 48. She passed away peacefully at the Southwood Hospice, in the presence of both of her daughters, after an arduous battle against cancer.  

Nancy was born on December 22, 1971, in Montreal, Quebec to Jacques and Ginette Delainey. As a young girl, Nancy moved to Calgary with her parents and two sisters. It was in Calgary where she met Bill Van Eerden, the love of her life, whom she chose to begin her family with. Nancy went on to have two daughters, Jordan and Mackenzie Van Eerden. 

Nancy was a loving, resilient and independent woman. She loved her family deeply and whenever possible, enjoyed spending her family time camping, at McLean Creek. Nancy was happiest when she could be camping with her family and friends, something she did as often as she could. 

Throughout her life, Nancy worked as a paralegal to various lawyers within Calgary. For the last 17 years, Nancy worked with Doug Moe, Q.C. at Moe Hannah LLP. She was a well-respected, hard working individual who’s loss will be felt deeply by all who knew her. 

Nancy was predeceased by her father Jacques Delainey, and her mother Ginette Delainey. She leaves behind her husband Bill Van Eerden, and daughters Jordan Van Eerden (Brett Hart) and Mackenzie Van Eerden. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Garry Van Eerden, sister-in-law April Van Eerden, sisters Lynda Delainey (Darryl), and Marie Brown (Dave), nephew Jason Brown, niece Jessica Cole (Bret), and various aunts, uncles and cousins residing in Quebec. 

Due to current restrictions of COVID-19, the family intends to have a Celebration of Life with family and friends, at a later date. Details to follow.
