Myrtle Evans Cote

Myrtle Evans Cote died peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the South Health Campus in Calgary. She was 92.

She is survived by her children Bonnie, Michele (Terry), Lori (Dale), Allan and Jacqueline (Garry). She is also survived by her grandchildren Brandon, Taylor, Connor, Ashley, Jenna, Courtney, Rachel, Jillian, Phillip, Brian, Monique, Jeremy, Breanne and her great-grandchildren Amelia, Henry, Wyatt, Sophie, Bennett, Zoey, Jude, Heath, Teddy and Calvin.

She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice, her son, Maurice (Moe) and daughter-in-law, Carol (Allan).

Myrtle was born in Moore Park, MB and eventually settled in Calgary. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse and was a stenographer and bookkeeper before starting a family. When their children were older, she worked with Maurice in their business.

Myrtle and Maurice spent many years at Columbia Lake, BC, where they enjoyed spending time with their family and beloved dog, Jiggs. Myrtle loved to travel and toured many places around the world. When she was no longer able to visit in person, she spent countless hours seeing the world online.

She was an accomplished seamstress, an exceptional money manager and to the end was always ready for a political discussion. In her later years, her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Myrtle left life the same way she lived it – on her own terms and looking forward to visiting yet another place. May it be all you were hoping for, Mom. Rest in peace.

We will say farewell to Myrtle at a private family gathering where both she and Maurice will be interred together at Sacred Heart Columbarium in Calgary.
