Muriel Elizabeth Morrison (Bek)

Beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend 

Muriel was born in High River, Alberta on December 30, 1967 to parents Catherine and Claude Johnston. She was born with hip dysplasia, so lived her first year in a lower body cast in which she learned to walk. It spoke to the determination she would carry with her throughout her life. Muriel’s zest for life was infectious and it came out in everything she did. A scent from a lilac bush, a good Rod Stewart or Bob Marley song, and especially in the laughter of her children. The pride and joy she had in her children never faltered. Muriel would marry twice, first to Thomas Bek and then years later to Garry Morrison.  Some of her greatest memories were the times she spent on the beaches of Maui, with her toes in the sand, listening to the crashing of the waves and watching the beautiful sunsets. She was able to take many trips to Maui with her loved ones and cherished those adventures. 

Muriel passed away on April 28, 2021 at the Bethany Care Center, surrounded by those who loved her. She was predeceased by her father, her mother, her husband Garry, and her niece Jillian Kemlo. Muriel will be lovingly remembered by her 5 children: Michael Bek (Veronica), Travis Bek, Kyle Bek (Veronika), Maddison Bek (Landon), and Liam Morrison; her two step daughters, Brittany Weiss (Danny), and Taylor Morrison (Stephen); six siblings: Glenis Currie (Allen), Donna Vickery (Greg), Audrey Third (John),  Gary Vickery (Julie), Janet Rude (Kevin), and Claude Johnston; as well as several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Her passing will be felt by many.  Muriel’s spirit and light will live on through those she loved. 

As per Muriel's wishes, she will be brought back to Maui. A place she so dearly loved and will be at peace with.
