Mona Leigh Dale

Mona Leigh Dale, 62, of Calgary Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, after a long fight with cancer.

Mona was born on March 2, 1961, to parents Jack and Rosemarie Rudichuk, in Moosejaw. After Mona graduated from high school, Mona went on to work many jobs with an exceptional competence and ease, regardless of how different her duties were. She started her own business in the 90’s, ahead of her time with her concern to give good nutrition to growing children, her business was contracted to provide homemade nutritious meals to students at schools in Didsbury.  Mona was much beloved by students and staff.

In the 80’s Mona married Terry Lacroix. She bore three children, Shaun (Vinay), Kesar, and Alia during these years. After her divorce from Terry, she eventually married Jeff Dale in 2000.

Mona’s life was concerned with her spirit and really becoming the best woman possible.  She was passionate about spreading the meditation practice of Sahaja Yoga, which she began practicing in the early 1980’s. For many years, she conducted free classes for beginners in Calgary to teach meditation, enjoying touching people’s lives with love and wisdom. Mona was known for her sweetness and laughter, and her ability to gently convey the lessons she had learned throughout her life with a care-free but deep expression. 

Mona worked tirelessly to provide for her children by giving a solid foundation materially, but also wisdom at every opportunity.  She enjoyed cooking and was a masterful chef and baker, had exceptional taste in music, endlessly indulged her beloved dog Lira, and was ever ready for a laugh even in seemingly dire conditions. She traveled extensively in Canada, USA, Europe, and India, attending many Sahaja Yoga gatherings and creating life-long friendships with people from all over the world.  She lived some years collectively in ashrams in Switzerland, as well as Vancouver, Bragg Creek, and Calgary.

Mona is survived by her sister Liallyn; husband Jeff; son Shaun (Vinay); daughters, Kesar, and Alia (Kelvin); and grandchildren, Elias and Avery, and Hendrix.  and.  Mona was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rosemarie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tuxedo Park Community Association in Calgary on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm.
