Melanie Sue Graham

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Melanie Sue Graham, (70 years) in Calgary, Alberta, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Melanie was born in New Glasgow, Pictou County, Nova Scotia on November 14, 1955. From an early age she honed her talent and passion for dance and was very gifted in Ballet, Highland, and Ballroom dancing. In 1989 she relocated to Calgary, Alberta, to continue her dancing and career, and there she met, married, and continued to dance with the love of her life, Arlen Peterson.

For 40 years, Melanie’s career was that of a Registered Pediatric Nurse, with 26 years served at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. She was much loved by her colleagues and her young patients, and she brought warmth, compassion, and outstanding care.

Melanie also volunteered many years of her time to her community in a variety of pursuits including her devotion to St. Mary’s Cathedral as Altar Server Coordinator. She was very dedicated to her role and was appreciated for her ongoing and exemplary assistance.

Melanie will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Arlen and her precious cat, Sanje. She loved her felines and is pre-deceased by Ramsay and Nubia, who lived charmed lives with her.

All of Melanie’s close friends and family will miss her beautiful smile, her exquisite dancing, and the kindness she always extended.

A private celebration to honour her life will be held at a later date.
