It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Lee Liddle. Martin will be lovingly remembered by his common-law partner Barb Hjalte; his four children Martin Jr. (Jaclyn), Lindsay, Sarah (Blake), and Lane (Andrea); and his seven siblings Robert Jr. (Dorris), Louise (Larry) Jean, Lloyd (Leslie), Vern, Ryan, Aaron and Kevan (Maryke); as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Martin was born in Lac La Biche, Alberta on September 24, 1962, to Robert Sr. Liddle and Leona Huppie-Liddle and passed away suddenly on April 15, 2022, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 59 years.
Martin was highly intelligent and a jack of all trades. He was naturally inquisitive, and there was nothing that Martin wasn’t scared to tackle and try. Martin worked many different occupations throughout his life, but most of them were oilfield, construction, and truck driving. Later in his life, Martin drove a taxi with two of his brothers.
Martin’s favorite season was summer. He enjoyed road trips, camping, boating, and fishing. He spent many weekends with family and friends either sitting around a kitchen table playing cards or around a campfire enjoying a good story and lots of laughs. Martin also enjoyed golfing, building things, and tinkering with vehicles in the backyard – he was a skilled mechanic and semi-pro engineer!
He was a kind, selfless, and down-to-earth person who was always helping others and brightening their day with his witty sense of humor. He was a gifted conversationalist and made it easy to feel comfortable around him. Martin always wanted to make sure his children were protected. He loved his children dearly.
Martin was a loving father, partner, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be profoundly missed by all who met him.
Martin was predeceased by his father Robert Sr. Liddle and his mother Leona Liddle.
Rest in peace, we love you and will miss you!
A Celebration of Life will be held in Camrose, Alberta in July 2022.
