Louise Elizabeth Wood

Louise Elizabeth Wood passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025. Louise was born on a beautiful sunny day on July 21, 1941, in Lethbridge, Alberta to Joseph & Velma Toth. Louise embraced life to it’s fullest, growing up in the farming community of Raymond, Alberta. As the oldest of 5, she enjoyed being the protector of her sister and younger brothers. From helping the family in the sugar beet fields to being there for a loving embrace. These were all things that gave her the foundation of family, work ethic and love. It was this foundation that carried Louise forward to attending Nursing School in Medicine Hat with her sister Marie. However, nursing was not the path she would follow when she met the love of her life, Lloyd Wood. Louise and Lloyd started their adventure together by eloping to Shelby, Montana before settling in Calgary. It was here she started her family. In her early years she enjoyed camping with her young family along with her Aunt Liz and Uncle Steve at Lundbreck Falls (favorite family memory). Louise also took pride in caring for her gardens and flowers (known to be the best on the block). She also had amazing skills in the kitchen with many friends and family requesting her Cabbage Rolls for special events. Later in life she took up painting with many masterpieces to share.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd and her parents, Joseph & Velma Toth and her brother Ronald Toth. She is survived by her loving daughter Sheri Wood Sanderson (Brian), Grandson Carter, Her sister Marie (Bill), her brothers Andrew Toth and Harris Toth (Christine), as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank The Edgemont Staff for the wonderful care through the years and the staff of Unit 31 at the Foothills Hospital.

Those wishing to pay respects may join family and friends for a Graveside Service at Queens Park Cemetery, (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, August 14th, 2025, at 11:00am.
