Lawrence (Larry) Matusik Obituary

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Matusik, cherished husband of Sharon, who left us peacefully at the age of 91.

Larry was born in High River, Alberta, in the backseat of a 1929 Plymouth and grew up on the family farm, attending Maple Leaf School in Aldersyde. He graduated from Okotoks High School and later Henderson Business School before beginning a long and dedicated career. His first position was with Hudson’s Bay Oil and Gas, followed by Johnston Testers, and ultimately a 32-year career with Schlumberger Canada.

Beyond his work, Larry was passionate about sports, camping and thoroughly enjoyed his fishing and  photography excursions with close friends. For many years, he proudly coached the Braeside Forkers Ladies Fastball team, leaving a lasting impact on the players and families who knew him.

Larry was predeceased by his first wife, Carole Matusik (nee Bird), his parents Mary and Thomas Matusik, and his sisters Annie Krivy, Katie Perozak, Verona Smee, and Josephine Uhlir, along with several extended family members.

He will be forever remembered by his children Kim Brown (Kelvin), Ron Matusik, Todd Matusik (Brenda), and Kerri Matusik, as well as his stepchildren Kim Brocklesby (Ron Gallant) and Lee Winter. His legacy also lives on through his beloved grandchildren Casey (Laura), Meghan (Guy), Delaini, Taylor, Michael, Dallas (Sage), McKenzie, and Zane, and his great-grandchildren Benji, Westyn, and Tulsa.

We also want to thank Mayfair Care Centre and Rockyview General Hospital staff for their kindness and extended care through this time.

Larry’s life was full of love, laughter, and dedication to family, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.

A private service will be held.
