We are sad to announce the death of Laurence Orval Ritchie, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, after a short illness.
Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1938, Laurence was a graduate of Fredericton High School as well as Durham’s Business College in San Antonio, Texas. He was the youngest son of Clement Winston Ritchie and Lucy May (Robbins) Ritchie.
Laurence was an avid coin collector who established a successful online coin trading enterprise that reflected his lifelong interest in sales and marketing. He also worked as a security supervisor at Barnes Security, as well as at the Calgary Stampede.
Laurence was an early and enthusiastic adopter of home computers – as soon as they first arrived on the scene and enjoyed collecting electric trains. He was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Laurence was known to be a kind and conscientious man who always strived to help others. He will be very much missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son Christopher; and his grandchildren, Kelsy, Kyle, Teegan, and Kahle. Besides his parents, Laurence was predeceased by his elder brothers, Robert and Boyd; and his son Kent.
