Kimberley Colbert Obituary

Kimberley Ann Colbert was born on February 14, 1967 and passed away on August 28, 2020. She was born and raised in Kelowna, British Columbia with her father Abram Klassen and her mother Julia Klassen. She lived a very happy childhood in Kelowna surrounded by family, nature, and fun.

She moved to Calgary when she was just 18 years old and at 19, she met her first husband Steven Colbert. By the age of 24 she was happily pregnant with her son Dallin Paul Colbert.

On August 15, 1991 an unbreakable bond was created between Kim and her newborn son Dallin. In addition to juggling being a single mother and hockey mom for Dallin, Kim was able to become an award-winning pharmaceutical sales rep.

Kimberley met her lifelong partner in July 2000 at the Buck n Breakfast. Kimberley and Rich were two peas in a pod, both social butterflies. In 2001 Kim and Dallin merged families, Brady Bunch style, with Rich and Spencer Pal. Kimberley found herself as the proud stepmother superior to Spencer.  Later that year, Dallin found himself to be the proud brother to Cassia Colbert and through that Kim met Gwen McKenzie and began to build a lifelong sisterhood together.

Kim spent the next years overachieving in her career, mothering her two kids, and vacationing to Kelowna, Europe, Asia and repeatedly to Mexico. She loved to garden, and always learn. Kimberley loved enjoying her puppies Daisy and Emma; her love for animals started at a young age and had hoped one day to be a veterinarian. This is reflected in her request for donations to “Heaven Can Wait” Animal Rescue Foundation. She also loved spending time with her family and friends and helping those around her with anything they needed. The time came when Kimberley and Rich bought their dream home in Okotoks, AB and Kimberley got to have her dream view where she developed special friendships with her neighbors.

Kimberley was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer during the flood on June 19, 2013. She would go on to show superhuman levels of strength and courage as she fought for 7 years through many complications due to the nature of her illness. Kimberley had always lived and loved to the fullest, and after her diagnosis, her passion for life only intensified. A good glimpse into her character was that when she was going through the hardest time of her life, she went way out of her way to share her knowledge of health to those who also had cancer and advocate for these people.

Kimberley will be forever loved and remembered by her family; Rich Pal, Dallin Colbert, Spencer Pal, Diane Wigglesworth, Grandma Pal, Linda Clowes and her tribe, Cassia Colbert, Gwen McKenzie and her sister from another mister, Kelly Applebee, and the many loving friends in her life. Kimberley’s selflessness, heart, bravery, and positivity were unmatched by any and she changed the lives of everyone who met her because of her fearlessness to love.
