Kevin McAuley, 67, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
He was born to Francis and Mary McAuley in Birmingham, England, on September 8, 1957. Kevin was an accomplished helicopter pilot, world traveler, sailor, musician, motorcycle rider, hockey coach, athlete, and loving father. He was over the moon to be a grandfather for the first time in the spring, and was excited for the summer where he would become a husband again to his adoring fiancé, Sheila Waite. Kevin never opted to stay in one place too long, preferring instead to experience everything the world has to offer to those who aren’t afraid to leave home; his favorite places to visit included Vancouver, Peru, Ireland, England, and any ‘out of the way’ unknown gem that could be found by taking the long way home.
Kevin married Pearl Dyck in 1990, and they had three children: Ryan, Shannon, and Alannah. Kevin is survived by all three of his children, his current and beloved fiancé Sheila, ex-wife Pearl, his sister Tracey and brother Shane, and his son-in-law, Chris Williams. He is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mary.
Attending both Simon Fraser University and the University of Calgary, Kevin earned his BSc in Environmental Management, reflecting his love for the natural world and stewardship of the earth we share. He spent many happy years at WestJet in Calgary, where he poured immeasurable time and energy into the company as a startup, and proudly helped as it skyrocketed into a Canadian empire.
Kevin will be lovingly remembered as a devoted and supportive father, a happy and adoring partner, a reliable brother, and a great friend. Kevin was humble, kind, generous, funny, inspirational, and touched the lives of every person he met; his loss will be grieved deeply by anyone who was lucky enough to be known and loved by him.
A Celebration of Life will be open to anyone who wishes to attend at the Cheadle Hall (10 Malone Ave, Cheadle, AB) on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
