Kenneth “Kenny” Albert McEachren, 87 years, born in Edmonton to Art & Ella McEachren May 9, 1937, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta.
Ken is lovingly remembered by his wife Carol McEachren (nee Hagen) of Calgary, AB; children Jodi Normandeau (Brad) of Stony Plain, AB., Erin McEachren (Luigi Meneghetti) of London, UK., and Dan McEachren of Calgary, AB; grandchildren Morgyn, Tyler and George; great-grandchildren Alexandrea and Myles; brother Morley McEachren (Mae) of Edmonton, AB.; and nephews Greg and Brad. Ken was predeceased by his father, Arther McEachren and mother, Ella McEachren (nee Klapstein).
Ken was full of life and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. Raised on a dairy farm in the Ellerslie community, he worked hard throughout his life. When the milk quota was sold, Ken carried on as a grain grower and hay producer until 2006; Ken and Carol retired to a home in Millet, Alberta, then relocated to Calgary in 2014, where they had the support of family in later years.
Ken was passionate about his community and supporting others. When not tending the farm, Ken enjoyed mentoring young farmers, championing advances in agriculture, and helping neighbours. Ken was a respected member of the community; he will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and considerable political opinions. Ken had a talent of making friends who came from all walks of life; he was a “special and fun character” entertaining many and aggravating a few whilst holding court in his shop or local Shell café. Above all, Ken was proud of his family and loved sharing the simple pleasures of rural Alberta life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future, details will be announced at a later date.
