'Kay' Catherine Mary (Dougharty) Myhra

Catherine 'Kay' Mary Myhra (nee Dougharty) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the age of 92. Catherine went by the name of Kay. Born in Moose Jaw, SK, on June 21, 1932, to Alexander Frederick and Janet Dougharty. They lived in Moose Jaw where she went to school until 1943 when the family moved to Vancouver, BC, where she continued her education.

After her schooling was complete, Kay started working at Woodward's, where she met Melvin Myhra, they dated for a short time and were married in 1949. In 1951, they packed up and moved to Coderre, SK, and lived on the farm, raising their family. They had three children Lynn 1950, Barry 1955 and Arnold 1961. Kay and Melvin enjoyed life on the farm and all their friends. In 1972, they moved to Calgary, AB, where Kay worked at a couple of part-time jobs that she enjoyed. She enjoyed planting flowers outside and always had several plants inside the home that thrived. Over the years she had puppies to keep her company.

She made many knitted and crocheted items for family and friends. In years past, Kay liked to go to bingo regularly with her friends, always splitting her winnings with them. She also liked to go to the casino on occasion and try her luck. Later in life, Kay enjoyed staying at home watching her favorite TV shows and playing games. Always wanting to stay in her home as long as possible. She enjoyed the coffee and donuts during visits with Janet and Al Nygard.

Kay was predeceased by her parents, Alexander Frederick and Janet Dougharty, husband Melvin, son Barry, sister Margaret Pick, daughters-in-law, Diana and Anna Myhra, and grandson Colby Myhra. She is survived by her brother Frederick (Carmelita) Dougharty, sons, Lynn (Roberta), and Arnold Myhra, daughter-in-law Colleen Myhra, grandchildren, Chad (Shannon), Trevor, Wayne, Crystal and Jeremy Myhra, Stefanie (Stephen) Ballachey, Arnold "AJ" (Selina) Myhra, Tiffany (Adam) Usher-Cox, and Kimberly (Kurt) Usher, great-grandchildren, Isabelle Myhra, Christian, Chloe and Caleb Ballachey, Rayanna and Ashlee McBride, Decklan Myhra, Journey Myhra, Sierra and Myia Usher, Serenity Langton, Tyra, D'kotah and Aria Usher-Cox, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

As per Kay's wishes, there will be no service.
