Josephine (Josi) (Harahus) McLeod

Josephine (Josi) McLeod nee Harahus, beloved wife of 52 years to Terry McLeod; mother of Devin (Rana) McLeod and Tyler (Natalie) McLeod ; sister of Phil Harahus and Gerry (Barbara) Harahus, sister-in-law to Evelyn Harahus and grandmother of two, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024.

Josi was preceded in death by her parents Regina and John Harahus, brother George Harahus and sister-in-law, Margaret Harahus.

Born in Ponoka, AB, Josi split her childhood between Medicine Hat and Tide Lake, AB. She graduated from SAIT and worked as an LPN at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary and Royal Alexandra in Edmonton. Josi re-entered the workforce after raising her two sons and took longstanding positions managing departments at Tie Rack and Zellers.

Whether you knew her as Josephine, Josi, Jo or Joanne, you knew her to be kindhearted and empathetic. Josi will also be remembered as talented crafter and artist, avid bingo player, eager country concert goer, active volunteer at the Deer Park/Fish Creek United Church and regular companion to a dear circle of friends who continued to show her compassion even when circumstances made it difficult for her to maintain contact.

Josi’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her through the kindness she shared and the joy she brought to others. Josi’s legacy of love and friendship will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Funeral Service will be held at Fish Creek United Church on Friday, May 31, 2024, with Pastor Cindy Christie-Brooks presiding.
