Joseph Garland Shearlaw

It is with deep shock and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Garland Shearlaw on Monday, February 3, 2025, in Calgary Foothills Hospital. His wife, Lorraine and his two remaining sisters Roberta, and Patricia (Dennis) have heavy hearts as we process this loss so soon after our sister Maxine Shearlaw-Harker passed away last summer.

Joe was born March 25, 1946, and grew up with his parents, Douglas and Emily (nee Guss) Shearlaw and his sisters, Roberta, Patricia and Maxine in Drumheller, AB. Joe attended the University of Montana before returning to reside in Hanna.  He married Lorrane Kautz and they celebrated their 31st anniversary last fall.  Joe retired from the CN Railway after 34 years of service.  Joe loved to reminisce about the trips he and Lorraine had taken as well as the many friendships he made during his educational years, his employment and the towns where he resided.

 A tribute for Joe will be held in the spring to allow friends and family to travel without the worry of winter roads.  We will send more information once details have been finalized.
