John (Jack) Franklin Kilbreath of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on April 3, 1942, Jack lived a life marked by deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. He had a lifelong passion for photography and hiking and found particular peace in the mountains of Alberta, where he loved capturing landscapes and moments that reflected his love of the mountains. Through his lens, he preserved memories not only for himself but for those fortunate enough to share in his work. Jack began his career as an Engineer in the oil industry in Ontario. It was his career that brought him to Alberta which he often referred to as God's country.
Jack was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Hazel Kilbreath, and his siblings, Hugh Kilbreath, Janet McTaggart and William Kilbreath. He held a special place in the hearts of his family and many dear friends. In keeping with Jacks wishes there will be no funeral. Donations in his memory may be made to Friends of Kananaskis Country or Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society.
