It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Jessica Rae Comrie on May 21, 2024 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.
Jessie was born on July 16, 1989 in Lloydminster, SK while her parents were camping. She was in a hurry to enjoy her first camping experience with great-grandma Edith at the lake in Sandy Beach.
Jessica started school in Lloydminster, SK, continued in Pilot Butte, SK and finished in Picture Butte, AB. As a child, she was constantly picking up new friends and bringing home new pets. She was a lover of dogs and had a few throughout her life. Sam, Sadie, Abby, and finally, Charlie, all of whom were devoted to her.
Jessica started off on her educational path being a junior leader for Beavers in Picture Butte, AB and also trained as a cosmetologist. She tried many careers in her life, including being a hairstylist, selling Taber Corn, working as a BC fruit truck attendant, Home Hardware clerk, store assistant in a knick knack store in Picture Butte, health care aide at Beulah’s in Biggar, SK, St. Therese in Lethbridge, private home caregiver in Lethbridge before she had Rebecca.
With two children to care for, she moved to Medicine Hat where she started a private dayhome, named, Little Wolves Dayhome. She was continually pursuing higher education. She enrolled at Medicine Hat College where she graduated with honours with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. She was an early childhood educator who found fulfilment in educating and teaching her little ones. Jessica's dedication to her profession was evident as she pursued her Bachelors in Education while operating a dayhome in Calgary.
Hunter and Rebecca brought immense joy to Jessica's life. She enjoyed the outdoors, communing with nature, van camping, making s’mores around the campfire, and riding bikes with her children. She loved being on her back deck, entertaining her friends and having parties for special occasions. In her free time, Jessica cherished conversations with her loved ones. She valued the connection and support from her family and friends, always eager to listen and share her experiences. With her outgoing and vibrant personality, Jessica brought happiness and positivity wherever she went. Her warm spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Jessica is survived by Olayide Fabunmi and children Hunter and Rebecca Comrie of Calgary, Alberta; parents Brent and Eloise Comrie of Cardston, Alberta; brother Cody Paradis (Kelly Purvis); and nephew Nathan of Cranbrook, BC; sister Alyssa Comrie (Kyle Prince); and niece Kaylee of Barons, AB; brother Alex Comrie of Cardston, AB; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by grandparents Don and Mary Danskin of Biggar, SK.
