Culminating a productive life in the field of Communications, Jeremy (Jerry) Newton passed away on August 22 at the age of 66 years, following a stoic battle with lymphoma.
A 1987 graduate of the Broadcasting program at Mount Royal College, he progressed through a rewarding career in video direction and production with television outlets in the western provinces before joining the West Canadian Family of Companies as a Customer Care Representative in 2008.
Corporate changes saw him transferred to facilities operations for CNNOC in the Bow building. 2024 marked his fifteenth year with the West Canadian group.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, John and Alma Newton and three siblings, Sarah Newton Harding, Virginia Newton Boswell, and Nicholas Newton. He was a proud uncle to the latter’s daughters Samantha and Charlotte, and son Rowan.
A lover of good books and music, and at one time, an aspiring performer on the electric bass, Jerry shared his enthusiasms with friends and family. He is lovingly remembered and sorely missed.
Contributions to Lymphoma Canada (www.lymphoma.ca) or the Calgary Humane Society (www.calgaryhumane.ca) in Jeremy's memory would be greatly appreciated.
