Jarom Miehe of Calgary, Alberta, passed away suddenly on January 9, 2024. He suffered a cardiac episode on his way home from work, in the early hours of the morning and died almost instantly. He had just celebrated his 24th birthday a couple of months prior and had started an exciting new job the day before. The tragic loss of someone so young is felt most strongly by his mother, Kathryn Easthope, the entire Easthope family; his sister, Mia Miehe, as well as the entire Miehe family; and his partner, Alexis Snyder, as well as the entire Snyder family.
Jarom was a quiet, introspective person who kept a very small circle of friends. He enjoyed cooking, hiking, and riding his bike and held a deep affinity for music when doing any of these things. It was rare to see Jarom without headphones on or using his speaker system, which he was very proud of having built himself.
A shy person who often struggled to connect with people, Jarom did share a deep connection with animals and loved playing with them, especially his roommate's cat, Lucifer, and his partner's dog, Amandine. Many of us have fond memories of Jarom playing with animals on the floor with an ear-to-ear grin on his face.
It is no secret to the people who knew him that Jarom had many struggles in his life, but he always brought sincere joy to the people close to him and was always ready with a lame joke or an old story to brighten the mood. No matter what happened, Jarom always focused on the positive and looked for the next big opportunity.
Jarom got by in life with very little, but he leaves behind a multitude of treasured memories and inspires us to all be better people. He had a beautiful soul and will be sorely missed by all those that he loved.
