It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jim on September 28, 2025, at the age of 84.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Annie (2011), and by his parents, as well as some of his siblings and his great granddaughter, Tyla Clarke. He is lovingly survived by his children, Paul Falconer, Shannen Jorgensen (Jack), and Samantha Jewer (Todd); his granddaughter, Ashley France (Tyler); and his great-granddaughters, Novalie and Elianna.
Jim married the love of his life, Annie, in 1962. They shared a beautiful life together until Annie’s passing in 2011. In 1964, Jim and Annie moved from Scotland to Canada in search of a better life — and that they found.
Jim was an easygoing man who made friends wherever he went. He and Annie spent many happy years in Ontario raising their family before moving west to Calgary, Alberta, in 1977. Calgary remained home for many years, with a brief move to South Africa for work. Later, Jim’s career took him to Kansas and then Texas, where he lived for 24 years.
Although Texas became home, Jim’s work allowed him to travel the world to places like Singapore and Trinidad and Tobago. Jim and Annie shared a love of travel and enjoyed exploring the world together. In 2016, Jim’s daughters brought him back to Calgary so that he could be closer to family.
Jim was an outstanding athlete throughout his life. He played soccer and hockey for many years and later took up tennis. Always active and in great shape, he stayed passionate about sports even after a pelvic injury in 2013 prevented him from playing. When he was not playing, he was watching — cheering for Celtic FC from his hometown of Glasgow, following Notre Dame football every Saturday, and rooting for the Cleveland Browns (the “Broons!”) until Houston got its own team in 2002. From then on, that was the team on his TV and radio.
Jim lived a wonderful life and was deeply loved by his family and friends. If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever. We find peace knowing he is reunited with Annie — the love of his life. No two people loved each other more. They always said they were the
wind beneath each other’s wings, and now Jim has gained his angel wings to be with her once again. Our two angels in heaven, together forever.
What we will miss most is hearing Dad tell us he loved us and to “be careful” — at least once a day, every day. We never doubted the love he had for us; it showed in everything he did.
Thank you, Dad, for being the best we could have ever asked for.
