Ivan Otto Eifler

Ivan Otto Eifler of Calgary was called home into the loving arms of his Savior on February 3, 2026, at the age of 85 surrounded by the family he loved and cherished.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, best friend, and soulmate of almost 63 years, Bernice; his children, Ryan (Jennifer) Eifler and Sheri (Brian) Kiist; and his beloved grandchildren, Joshua (Naomi), Jared, Emily, Larissa, and Benjamin.

Ivan was a farm boy at heart, born in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, the youngest of nine children. After attending a year of Bible school in Medicine Hat, he moved to Calgary, where he met the love of his life, Bernice. Together they built a life rich in faith, laughter, hard work, and experienced countless blessings.

He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and sun-filled vacations, but his true happy place was the little cabin at Gull Lake. There he could “putz” for hours with his toys and in his sheds—content, curious, and forever the farm boy he had always been.

Ivan built an admirable career in the oil and gas industry, beginning with Mobil Oil and offshore drilling at Sable Island, and retired from Suncor in the year 2000 from his role as a procurement professional. His talent for finding a good deal followed him home, where he delighted in bargain hunting through the Bargain Finder, Kijiji, and more recently Marketplace—always proud of his latest treasure.

Above all, Ivan will be remembered for his deep faith, quiet generosity, steady strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy of love lives in each of our hearts.

Papa will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Unit 73 at Rockyview General Hospital for the compassionate care shown to Ivan and Bernice during his final journey with cancer.

At Ivan’s request, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
