Irene Aurora Robillard

Irene Robillard, age 93, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025.

She was born on January 13, 1932 to Alfred and Marie Robillard (nee Hamelin) in Jasmin, Saskatchewan.  She was the fourth of seven children.

Irene moved to Regina with her parents in 1949 and worked at a few jobs, including the Blue Boy Café.  She then took a business course at Balfour Tech and got a job as a bookkeeper in a service station where she worked for over 20 years.  Her parents and siblings moved to BC and other parts of Canada in 1951, but Irene stayed in Regina.  When her sister Marion returned to Regina in 1958, they spent a lot of time together.  Then Irene moved to Calgary in 1974 to start a new life with Langan Doud, who was her beloved partner and spouse until he passed away in 2017.

After moving to Calgary, Irene got a job with IB Jensen Masonry Ltd. and worked for them as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1992.

Irene was known for her kindness, patience and generosity to everyone she knew.  She didn’t like to speak ill of anyone and always chose to see the good in people.  She believed that whatever kindness you give to other people, comes back to you.

Irene and Langan's home welcomed many friends and family over the years. She cared very much for her own relatives and for Langan’s relatives, all of whom she considered to be her family.

As well as working full-time for many years, she was renowned for her love of cooking and making preserves.  Cooking was her life.  Irene and Langan made hundreds of different kinds of food and preserves over the years, primarily so they could share them with friends and relatives.  Whenever Irene and Langan attended family events, they always brought lots of wonderful homemade food.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, her sister Martha, brothers Germaine and Lawrence, her brothers and sisters in law, and several nieces and nephews.

Irene is survived by three sisters, Eleanor, Marion and Elizabeth, as well as many nephews, nieces and other Robillard family members.  She is also survived by Langan’s children, Terry, Colleen (John), Kathy and Brent, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Irene lived a full, love-filled life and will be truly missed.
