Our beloved Christmas angel, Harriet Maretta Eyolfson, peacefully joined her heavenly family at age 101, leaving behind a century of love, laughter, and countless hearts she touched.
Born on Christmas Day in Beechy, Saskatchewan, Maretta's life was a gift that kept giving. After training at Moose Jaw Nursing College, she dedicated herself to caring for others, a calling that extended far beyond her profession into every corner of her remarkable life.
Maretta possessed the rare gift of seeing strangers as friends she simply hadn't met yet. Whether at the grocery store or church, she would discover someone's entire life story within minutes, genuinely caring about each person she encountered. Her home was a revolving door of warmth, where no one left hungry and everyone felt cherished.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly fed anyone who walked through her door. She'd drop everything to help family and friends, embodying her favorite saying: "There is good in every person, you just have to find it."
Through 101 years of incredible change, Maretta remained anchored by her deep faith, her United Church and Salvation Army communities, and most importantly, her boundless love for family. She cherished every baby, celebrated every milestone, and shared countless stories that painted vivid pictures of times past.
Her legacy of unconditional love, generosity, and genuine interest in others will forever live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless lives she brightened simply by being herself.
Maretta is survived by children- Kris (Sharon), Jill (Bill), Larry, Karen (Jeff); son in law Brian Davis; grandchildren Ariel, Christina, Maria, Bryndis, Christopher, Jonathon, Adria, Patricia, Daniel and Eric; 16 great grand children; and brothers Gordon (99 years old) and Keith (Eleanor).
Maretta joins in eternal rest her beloved husband Magnus, daughters Maria and Judy and grandson Jason.
A Funeral Service will be held at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Dr SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1:30pm.
