Gordon James Edward Harris

On June 26, 1937, Gordon Harris was the second child born to his parents, Thomas and Dorothy Harris, of Lachine, QC. Thomas and Dorothy made Lachine their home and continued to raise him, and his older sister, Ruth there. 

In 1959, he met his loving wife, Sheila. They married two years later on July 1, 1961. In 1962, they became a family of three, when their daughter April was born. Then in 1963, David, their first son joined their family. Their family was completed when Keith, their second son was born in 1968.

In 1975, The Harris Family was invited to their first Gospel Meeting. Gordon always loved to share about his beginning days, meaning, when the gospel came his way, and his path in life was altered for the better. It was a day that brought him a lot of joy, and a day he was thankful for. He and Sheila made their individual choice to serve the living God, on April 14, 1976, in a Gospel Meeting being held by two servants of God, Wilda Byer and Betty Newbatt.

Gordon passed away from lung cancer at the age of 85, in the Strathmore hospital on Friday, September 23, 2022.

Gordon is predeceased by his father, his mother, Thomas and Dorothy Harris, and his son, David Harris. 

Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Sheila Harris. His Children, (Tom) April West of Chestermere, AB; (Kathy) Harris of Kelowna, BC; Keith (Angela) Harris of Norfolk, VA. His eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Evan J. Strong Funeral Home North (3625 12 St NE Calgary) on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 1:00pm. All are welcome to attend. Those who are unable to attend in person are welcome to view a recording of the service here.
